VIPER has been a forum for innovation and creativity for over twenty years. Since its foundation in the 80s, the festival has developed into the most important, largest Swiss event in the field of film, video and the new media. VIPER has established itself as a Centre of Excellence with its International Competitions and the annual International Forum devoted to a topical subject. The festival brings local, regional and national events together with outstanding international institutions and initiatives and offers a lively platform for presentation and exchange. It offers the public a prestigious survey of the most advanced ideas and projects that is unique in this form. In theory and practice VIPER investigates how technology and culture relate to each other and presents the most up-to-date positions and models as permanent "work in progress".
